Castlepoint | Josh & Gerdien
Josh and Gerdien had their gorgeous beach wedding in Castlepoint in the Wairarapa. It was such an amazing day and I was so lucky to be able to photograph it. Josh’s family have a family back in Castlepoint and it was the perfect spot for these two to say I Do.
I first met Gerdien when she was the makeup artist for Doug & Yaz’s wedding here in Rotorua. Then when I put a call out for a couple for an engagement session Josh and Gerdien drove all the way up for Turangi for it. I had so much fun photographing these two and Hazel who is completely gorgeous and so will trained. She was a massive part of Josh and Gerdien’s day and was the ring bearer too. She was in the bridal party photos too. One of the bridesmaids tried to call her once the bridal party photos were taken as we were doing some couple photos of Josh and Gerdien but she just wanted to stay and hang out with mum and dad. So we got some cute ones of the three of them too.
I had never been to Castlepoint before but honestly it is amazing, if you get a chance you should definitely go there. You can drive your car onto the beach! Which isn’t that common up here, it reminded me so much of small town New Zealand and I loved it. The lighthouse is iconic and the perfect backdrop for photos. We even got such an amazing sunset!!
Their MC was amazing and he pretty much got every guest up to sy something that they remembered about Josh and Gerdien, there were so many laughs. Gerdien’s mum is a cheesemaker so they were super lucky to not only receive a cake cake but also a cheese cake for a wedding cake. I’m just gutted that I missed eating some of the cheese, it looked so good!
